Challenges

Early Contractor Engagement

Engaging with the project early allowed Make to align their engineering and production schedules closely with the project timeline, accommodating the vision and scale of the project efficiently.

Close Collaboration with Interior Architects (IA)

Make worked intensively with IA to ensure a deep understanding of the design intent. Regular attendance at meetings and workshops facilitated a seamless translation of IA’s vision into practical submittal packages that were approved expediently, allowing fabrication to commence swiftly.

Engineering and Fabrication Expertise

Addressing the challenge posed by the heavy man-made stone materials, Make employed advanced engineering techniques to ensure safety and integrity in the construction and installation of the millwork.

Logistical Coordination

To manage logistics in the live environment of a New York street, Make developed a detailed plan for material delivery and storage, coordinating closely with city officials to secure necessary permits for parking and unloading.

Security and Compliance Protocols

Make ensured all craftworkers were thoroughly vetted and complied with the stringent security and health protocols required to work at the site, facilitating smooth and uninterrupted project execution.

Minimizing Onsite Disruption:

By maximizing off-site fabrication, Make reduced the need for onsite storage and labor, which minimized disruption in the live environment. This approach also maintained the high quality of finishes by protecting existing areas during installation.

Strategic Coordination with Other Contractors

Make played a key role in coordinating with other trades, including mechanical and electrical contractors, painters, tilers, and plasterers, ensuring that all aspects of the lobby renovation were harmonized and completed on schedule.

Overcoming Challenges

The Mastercard Global Headquarters lobby project is a testament to Make’s ability to handle complex millwork challenges through meticulous planning, expert fabrication, and strategic collaboration. The successful delivery of this project not only met but exceeded the client's expectations, reinforcing a long-standing relationship characterized by trust and mutual respect. This case study highlights Make’s commitment to delivering high-quality results while navigating the intricate dynamics of working in a live, high-security, urban environment.
